Addison Trail senior named DAOES Student of the Month
Addison Trail senior Mayra Tiscareno (center) has been named as the DuPage Area Occupational Education System (DAOES) Student of the Month for December. Tiscareno was nominated by Tom Bondi, Criminal Justice Instructor at Technology Center of DuPage (TCD) (pictured at right). Pictured at left is Tiscareno's sister, who is an Addison Trail alumna.
During its Dec. 16 meeting, the DuPage Area Occupational Education System (DAOES) named Addison Trail senior Mayra Tiscareno as the system’s Student of the Month for December.
Pupils are honored with Student of the Month recognition based on citizenship, attitude, leadership, motivation and academics. Tiscareno was nominated by Tom Bondi, Criminal Justice Instructor at Technology Center of DuPage (TCD). Tiscareno was honored during the Dec. 16 DAOES Board of Directors meeting and was awarded a plaque for her accomplishments. Bondi described Tiscareno as a natural learner.
At Addison Trail, Tiscareno has taken a variety of honors and Advanced Placement (AP)/college-level courses and is a member of the Girls Track Team, National Honor Society, Best Buddies (which is dedicated to ending the social, physical and economic isolation of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities), L.A.D.I.E.S. (which helps members gain confidence and realize their true potential) and Interact Club (which focuses on community service and helping others).

Counseling Corner: Addison Trail Guidance Department shares important information regarding course selection for the 2022-23 school year
The time has arrived for students to select courses for the 2022-23 school year.
This year, pupils will select their classes online through PowerSchool. They will learn how to complete preliminary course selections during their resource period and will then have individual meetings with their counselor to finalize their selections. During those meetings, teacher recommendations, post-high school plans, previous courses and grades and interests/motivation also will be discussed.
We encourage parents/guardians to be part of the course-selection process with their child. Course descriptions can be viewed at https://www.dupage88.net/site/page/19, and course selections can be reviewed in PowerSchool through the following times/dates.
- Sophomores: Access available through 7 a.m. on Jan. 10
- Juniors: Access available through 7 a.m. on Jan. 24
- Freshmen: Access available through 7 a.m. on Feb. 7
* Students will have until Feb. 28 to make changes to course selections. All course selections will be considered final at that time.
Important reminders:
- Students need to be enrolled in at least six periods, plus a lunch.
- Schedules are computer generated, and we are unable to confirm a specific schedule.
- Course selections will be considered final on Feb. 28.

Addison Trail provides programs, services and supports to help build positive futures for students

The main goal for high schools is to help prepare students for a successful future. And a great example of a school that builds futures for its students is none other than Addison Trail.
Addison Trail is committed to offering flexible pathways to make sure students have ample opportunities, including earning college credits and gaining workplace certifications/experiences. The school provides a variety of programs and supports for all students such as field trips to college campuses and worksites. Pupils also can contact their counselor for assistance and advice.
